Mara Dyer once believed she could run from her past.

She can’t.

She used to think her problems were all in her head.

They aren’t.

She couldn’t imagine that after everything she’s been through, the boy she loves would still be keeping secrets.

She’s wrong.

In this gripping sequel to The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer, the truth evolves and choices prove deadly. What will become of Mara Dyer next?

Michelle Hodkin's debut novel The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer was one of my favorite 2011 releases. Now, on the second installment of the Mara Dyer trilogy, is definitely one of the best releases of this year! Oh yes! The Evolution of Mara Dyer is a phenomenal sequel with a rich and highly thrilling plot that also delivers a generous amount of tantalizing sensuality!

Once again Michelle Hodkin kept me absolutely confused and deeply engaged on a plot that never ceased to amaze me. The line between what's real and what's not was completely blended and I love how Michelle Hodkin kept me, at all times, guessing wrong. There were countless of surprising twists and jaw-dropping moments that I never saw coming. The Evolution of Mara Dyer picks up right after Mara Dyer #1 left, and the story flows perfectly from the first to the last page. In addition, I need to mention that Miss Hodkin doesn't wast a second during the first chapter and she immediately puts all the elements that makes you keep turning pages until dawn! If you thought that The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer was an amazing read, then just wait until you read this one, you'll be shocked with so much awesomeness!

During this installment, Mara and Noah evolve as a couple (I'm not going to give spoilers, just wait until you read it *insert evil laugh*) as well individually. However, most of Mara's change is not seen until the very end of the book, but it is still extremely gratifying to realize this change (regardless the circumstances) and Noah... WOW! just WOW!! There is a whole new dark side of Noah Shaw that is surprisingly scary and sexy at the same time. I am so grateful that Miss Hodkin didn't use the traditional -and overused- formula where the love interest suddenly disappears on the second installment. In fact, Miss Hodkin keeps Noah present in this installment more than ever before and Oh Good Lord! on every page he showed up, he filled it with breathtaking chivalry and scorching hotness! Noah Shaw is certainly the ultimate fictional crush that you'll dream of for many nights after you turned the last page.

The Evolution of Mara Dyer is exactly that, an evolution! Not just in terms of plot, but in terms of characters, mystery, pace, romance, etc! If I had to give a grade to this novel it would definitely be an A+, 100%, 5 dazzling stars! Well, there you have it. The Evolution of Mara Dyer is THAT good. So don't waste more time reading reviews on it and go pick it up!

All these reviews are really making me want to read this series. It's so rare that people love the second book as much as the first.

I haven't even read the first book yet, but I own a copy and I certainly want to, as soon as I get the chance. I'm so happy that it's one of your favorites, it makes me feel better about dropping something else to make time for it.
I love that Mara evolves in this one, even though it isn't noticeable until the very end. Character development is so important.
Great review, Natalia!
