Kresley Cole brilliantly balances a disturbing post-apocalyptic world that with authentic and charismatic characters. The story opens with a highly compelling and intriguing scene of Evangeline (Evie) asking for shelter at Arthur's home (who is a complete mystery). This scene is actually the present of the story and from this moment, Evie starts telling her story to Arthur through long flashbacks that don't disrupt the flow of the story. I love how smart Kresley Cole was with this detail and she definitely kept me turning pages at record speed. Then, once I got back to the present from the flashback, it was just to make everything even better! The story is built in such a wonderful way that I was felt enthralled during the whole read! Long flashbacks and mysterious present scenes were definitely well played!
Poison Princess' post-apocalyptic world is definitely something to fear of! The world has been consume by flames, and soon after, the little surviving population is no more than a bunch of cruel men and zombie-like creatures. I also loved the particular and unique concept about the Major Arcana tarot cards being actual characters in the story. Miss Cole has created a whole world with ancient wars and powerful characters that will haunt readers after long they turned the last page. In addition, I love the sensual creativity that Kresley Cole delivers in her writing. Evie and Jack's electrifying connection is just to die for! Oh! and did I mention that Jack is the ultimate post-apocalyptic badass hero? =9 Wait no more and go discover this delicious character by yourself!
Brutally amazing and and highly provocative, Poison Princess is a dark tale of love and survival in a devastated world that will seduce and haunt readers even long after you turned the last page. The merciless and terrific cliffhanger alone will leave readers speechless, hurting, and yet craving for more! Oh yes, more!

I'm not fond of stories told through flashbacks. However, I do enjoy trying out YA books by authors that are known from their adult novels so I might try this one out sometime.
