Jason Bourne meets The Sopranos in this breathtaking adventure

Sara Jane Rispoli is a normal sixteen-year-old coping with school and a budding romance--until her parents and brother are kidnapped and she discovers her family is deeply embedded in the Chicago Outfit (aka the mob).

Now on the run from a masked assassin, rogue cops and her turncoat uncle, Sara Jane is chased and attacked at every turn, fighting back with cold fury as she searches for her family. It's a quest that takes her through concealed doors and forgotten speakeasies--a city hiding in plain sight. Though armed with a .45 and 96K in cash, an old tattered notebook might be her best defense--hidden in its pages the secret to "ultimate power." It's why she's being pursued, why her family was taken, and could be the key to saving all of their lives.

Action packed, with fresh, cinematic writing, Cold Fury is a riveting and imaginative adventure readers will devour.

Filled with Chilling Suspense and Terrific Action!

Cold Fury is a fast-paced adventure with a terrific story line. The plot swallowed me with its intriguing secrets, danger, action and Capone doors! T.M. Goeglein certainly brings something refreshing to the YA world, and readers longing for a unique and highly entertaining adventure, will definitely devour this one.

Sara Jane Rispoli is a first class kick-ass heroine that can punch as well as Muhammad Ali. She is a very charming character and very smart, but for some reason, I didn't feel like I was reading from a female's pov. I think Sara could have perfectly been a boy. I don't mean that she was all boyish, but she wasn't entirely girly either. Sara, our kick-ass heroine, lives a pretty normal life... until spring dance, which is also the same day of her sixteenth birthday. That night, everything changes. When she gets back home after the dance, she discovers that the door is unlocked and her entire family is gone-vanish-poof! and now Sara may be the only one able to rescue them...if they are still alive.

I enjoyed many things about this novel. For example, the Chicago mafia, known better as The Outfit, is a highly alluring and intriguing element in the plot. I love mafia movies and Cold Fury was definitely like watching one! In addition, there is some romance in the story that balances all the cinematic action with a little bit of tenderness,  even though Goeglein didn't give me enough butterflies to satisfy my demanding heart but I still enjoy a lot the presence of Max. *wink* *wink*

It took me a while too get into the story. The way the story is told is actually very different from what I am used to. The prelude of this story shows Sara at the very end of it, meaning that everything that happens during the book, feels more like a remembrance instead of an actual event occurring in the moment I was reading it. It wasn't my cup of tea, but it was a definitely a refreshing and interesting storytelling.

Cold Fury is fast-paced and full of kick-ass action movie material! And regardless the fact that it took me a while to get into the story, Cold Fury is a highly enjoyable adventure filled with chilling suspense, terrific action, surprising paranormal elements and badass mobsters that will keep readers on their toes!

*SQUEEEEE* I love action/adventure books! This badass girl is someone I need to meet ;) The book does sound very cinematic so I can't wait to see it for myself! Will be making sure I read this at the end of the year. Glad you enjoyed it, even though the story format was a little odd.... Great review!

This book sounds kickass! I don't think I've ever read a book with mafia before, and I love books with awesome prelude! Too bad you couldn't connect with the protag though... it's hard for me to like a book with a protag I couldn't connect to.

Oh my gosh, this book just screams badass! The cover, the synopsis, and now your review! I LOVE books that are fast-paced and full of action <3 Though I'm still a little on the fence because of what you're saying about the characters. Sara could have been mistaken for a boy!? That kind of makes me a little wary haha. But still, I think the kickass-ness of the plot might just win me over anyway! Fabulous review x)

Mmmmmmm, like the balance of your opinions in this review, and I laughed at the Ali comment XD It's too bad that you weren't connected with the main girl, though... (Vivi's really big on reader-character bonds ^_^;) But yes, this book seems bad-ass all the way! Great review!! <3

I love mafia movies as well so I have been wondering if I would like this. I don't like books and movies where everything is more of a flashback. Not my cup of tea either. I prefer to feel in the moment.
