Life can't get much better for Sam Lock. Popular, good-looking, and with a future as a professional football player. every guy at Stanton High School wishes he were Sam. That is, until his championship football game, when Sam accidentally links with an ancient source of energy known as the Veil and reveals his potential to become a powerful sorcerer. Sam is whisked off to Atlas Crown, a community of sorcerers who utilize the Veil as a part of everyday life. Once there, he trains beside a mute boy who speaks through music, an eternal sage who's the eyes and ears of the Veil, and a beautiful girl who's pretty sure Sam's an idiot. As it becomes clear Sam's meant for power magic-the most feared and misunderstood form of sorcery-people beyond Atlas Crown learn of his dangerous potential. An exiled group of power sorcerers are eager to recruit Sam, believing that he is destined to help them achieve their long-held goal. If they succeed, they could bring about the downfall of not only Atlas Crown. but all humankind.
A Magical and Sparkling New Series!
Sam is the perfect Guy. He's an amazing football player, he's popular, hot, confident, etc! Then, on the most important game of his life, everything goes terribly wrong. Sam, while in the best part of the football game, freezes the whole stadium, taking his concentration out of the game and ruining his future as a football star. But this it not all, then he is implicated in a "fight" that puts him into jail for a few hours from where he is rescued by a mysterious a kick-ass lady who, supposedly, is from the FBI. Here, Sam's story takes off and it doesn't stop until the last page of this exhilarating journey.
Daniel Cohen ha such a wild imagination! There were so many things I have never seen before in any other book. Atlas Crown, the place where Sam trains to become a sorcerer, is such a wondrous place! Also, in this place Sam learns everything about the Veil and many other concepts that Cohen created for this rich world. Yet, at times it was a bit hard for me to process so much in so little since this novel only contains 242 pages. Regardless this, I love the world the author's created! Needlessly to say that the plot is very intriguing plus the characters are very lovable.
My only little "but" of this novel is that times it was hard for me to follow everything that was going on (notice that I'm far cry from an English major and English is not even my first language). I think that sometimes so much was happening and so fast that it was a bit confusing. Also, I wish I could have had a bit more of romance (sorry, can't help it I'm a girl plus I love Sam!) Yet, this is 100% subjective and absolutely a selfish desire. However, there is flirting and hints of a romance that will possible bloom in Master's of the Veil's sequel!
With the perfect dose of humor, action, mystery, a bit of romance and lots of magic, Masters of the Veil is a magical and sparkling addition to everyone's YA book shelf!

This sounds like a really interesting read, Natalia. Intriguing plot line and lovable characters are favorites of mine, so I'll probably enjoy it.
It's a little sad that you were confused with certain scenes. I don't like when that happens with me since it's really frustrating.
I'm going to give the book a shot when it comes out ! :)
