As a little girl, Daisy Appleby was killed in a school bus crash. Moments after the accident, she was brought back to life. A secret government agency has developed a drug called Revive that can bring people back from the dead, and Daisy Appleby, a test subject, has been Revived five times in fifteen years. Daisy takes extraordinary risks, knowing that she can beat death, but each new death also means a new name, a new city, and a new life. When she meets Matt McKean, Daisy begins to question the moral implications of Revive, and as she discovers the agency’s true goals, she realizes she’s at the center of something much larger—and more sinister—than she ever imagined.

An Attractive Story with a Great Sci-fi Touch

When I read Cat Patrick's first novel Forgotten, I was very impressed of the bizarre, yet highly captivating concept of a girl forgetting her past but always remembering her future. This time, Patrick's second novel, Revived, once again surprised me with an attractive new concept that grabbed immediately my attention from the moment I turned to the first page.

Daisy is not the typical teenage girl. She has died five times, and every time, she has been brought back to life by a program called Revive. After her fifth death, Daisy and her "parents" (they are actually people from the Revive program) move to Omaha to start a new life (after Daisy's last death). Here, Daisy makes a new friend (Audrey), and then falls in love with her new friend's gorgeous brother (Matt) with whom she share the truth about her past and, also, about the Revive program.

I enjoyed Revived and I loved the sci-fi touch Cat Patrick incorporated into the story. It somehow makes the story more believable. The fact that Patrick discards every paranormal element and provides scientific explanation really made me want to jump into the pages to learn more about the Revive program. Yes, I wish I would have learned more about this topic, about its organization and their objectives, the bad guys, the other revived people, etc. In other words, I would have love to have more  background history about the Revive concept in the story-line. But maybe we will have that on a sequel? hopefully! I also liked the characters but I didn't fell in love with any of them. Daisy, Audrey and Matt were definitely a lovely trio but I wish I could have felt more for them. I think that if Cat Patrick writes a sequel for Revive (which definitely has the potential for) I will probably get to know more about these characters and therefore, sympathize with them and get to love them more.

Revived is a good switch to a genre that it is not very common among YA books and, as well as Patrick's first novel Forgotten, Revived will surprise you with a nice touch of Sci-fi, romance, friendship, life and death.

Big Thanks to Hachette Book Group Canada for providing me an arc of Revive for review!

Sounds like a really interesting read! I may have to watch out for it at the library. I have been really wanting to read this one and your review made me a bit more excited. Sounds like even with a few flaws it's a good read!

Ohhhh, Natalia, this was the perfect review!! I loved this book to death too -- hehe, you get it? -- even though I didn't at the exact same time! It was fun and sweet and enjoyable, but I never fell for any of the characters and I didn't fall for the romance either. But Daisy was still awesome, Matt was still sweet, and what happened to Audrey still broke my heart!!

Lovely honest review, Natalia! These times when we feel the same way about books are when I want to beam with pride! x) <3

I haven't read Forgotten but I like the concept of Revived. The only thing that makes me wary about sci-fi is that because I'm in the sciences, I analyze things probably a little too much and end up realizing that stuff doesn't sound very plausible. Here's hoping that Revived changes my mind, Natalia!

The book seems really original and entertaining. I love that it has sci-fi elements, since that's not a common theme in YA books.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Natalia :)
Love the review as usual ! :)

Great review, doll! I enjoyed this one too but I felt I wanted to know more. More about the bad guy and the Revived project you know. I still liked the story it was more contemporary than I expected.

I really enjoyed Revived too! I loved Forgotten more but I love the idea of the drug 'Revived' and Daisy! Matt was okay but he's no Luke! ;)

Awesome review, Natalia! <3 So glad you enjoyed it!

PS: The book trailer is so cool!

If you don't know me or, my gosh, are inexplicably not a music fan, that...probably means not a thing to you. Or maybe it sounds weird. Basically it just means that I liked Forgotten and Revived so much that I heard distinctive music while I read. A soundtrack, if you will. I'm a music junkie, yes, but not everything makes me think musically.

The other day, while I was at work, my cousin stole my iphone and tested to see if it can survive a 25
foot drop, just so she can be a youtube sensation. My iPad is now destroyed and
she has 83 views. I know this is completely off

The only way to (attempt to) shut it off is by making a humming noise. It finally occurred to me that it was because I, like Brad Delp, had “more than a feeling”, and for “such a long time” was looking for my “peace of mind”, struggling to be the “man (woman) I’ll never be”.  nbsp; acheivements. Both of which have my respect.
