The year is 2009. Nineteen-year-old Jackson Meyer is a normal guy… he’s in college, has a girlfriend… and he can travel back through time. But it’s not like the movies – nothing changes in the present after his jumps, there’s no space-time continuum issues or broken flux capacitors – it’s just harmless fun.
That is… until the day strangers burst in on Jackson and his girlfriend, Holly, and during a struggle with Jackson, Holly is fatally shot. In his panic, Jackson jumps back two years to 2007, but this is not like his previous time jumps. Now he’s stuck in 2007 and can’t get back to the future.
Desperate to somehow return to 2009 to save Holly but unable to return to his rightful year, Jackson settles into 2007 and learns what he can about his abilities.
But it’s not long before the people who shot Holly in 2009 come looking for Jackson in the past, and these “Enemies of Time” will stop at nothing to recruit this powerful young time-traveler. Recruit… or kill him.
Piecing together the clues about his father, the Enemies of Time, and himself, Jackson must decide how far he’s willing to go to save Holly… and possibly the entire world.
Tempest will definitely stand out from the shelves and explode the box-office one day!
Do I really need to convince you to read Tempest? Not at all because this book speaks by itself! Awesome cover, kick-ass premise and movie rights already sold to Summit Entertainment are only the tip of an iceberg full of action, romance, invigorating characters and lot of time-traveling!
The first time I saw this book I was really curious of what it could be about. Then, when I read the summary I was immediately sold! Seriously, I am a big time travel lover and I was eager to read this book and see what I would find in the world Julie Cross created.
Surprise! what I found in Tempest was so much more than I expected! There is a generous amount of time traveling that certainly captivated me and made my jaw drop by its originality. Julie Cross' debut novel really surprised me with a new time traveling concept that I'd love to talk about but I don't want to give anything away (I won't ruin the surprise and your reading experience). So far, I have never read anything like this before and I really loved what I found in this book. In addition, the plot is highly engaging. There is action from beginning to end and is not predictable at all. Also, there is something in this book that I really loved and that is the organization behind Tempest. Oh yes, I am being vague but if you really want to know what I am talking about, don't waste your time and get this book as soon as it comes out!
Jackson, our badass main character was so refreshing to read. Told from his point of view, Tempest projects a strong and realistic voice of a teenage guy. Also, Holly, Jackson's love interest, is a smart and skillful girl that certainly enhance the cast of Tempest. Adam is another character I really liked in the story. Adam is Jackson's genius friend that absolutely made me have a thing for geeks. Jackson's father is another character that I am looking forward to read in the next book. The relationship between Jackson and his father is complicated and, at the same time, heartwarming. Teens and parents' relationship is something I'd love to see more often in YA book since we rarely see much of the "parents" in the teen books I read. However, Julie Cross absolutely does a wonderful job illustrating a father-and-son complex but solid relationship. There are many other characters such as Jackson's sister (I loved every page she was on it!) and the EOTs (don't know what I am talking about? then pick it up as soon as it comes out!) that completes the author's world perfectly!
Tempest by Julie Cross is absolutely movie material and I really hope to see this book go to the big-screen! Time-traveling, action, romance, family, friendship, guns, kick-ass moves, bad guys, and an original concept will leave you absolutely breathless! From the first to the last page, Tempest is a marathon against time and a fight to save the ones you love that will definitely stand out from the shelves and explode the box-office one day!

This one sounds absolutely awesome and I've heard nothing but amazing things about it. I will definitely be picking up a copy when it comes out :)
Oh I agree with you here! Reading the story form Jackson's POV was wonderful. I always love to read a story told by a guy -it's refreshing in the world of YA where mostly girls are the MC.
And, as far as I know it will be a movie, I believe the movie rights have been sold already?! But, I'm not sure if this is correct, I just hope so!
THIS SOUNDS AMAZING!!! I so have to read this soon <3 I haven't read a time-travel book in AGES, so I'm definitely looking forward to this! Fantastic review :D

LOVE that we get a male point of view in this book! I don't read nearly enough books that feature male protagonists:) So glad to know you loved this one Natalia, I'm really looking forward to it!

It seems like everyone who's reviewed this one had the same problem I did when I reviewed it - it's so hard to write about, because you don't want to give anything away! The whole thing was packed with twists and action and intrigue, saying anything could easily be a spoiler, haha
I can't wait for the next book in the trilogy so I can find out what happens next. :)
I especially enjoyed the fact that the book was written from the main male character's point of view.
