When sixteen-year-old Faye arrives at Holbrook Academy, she doesn't expect to find herself exactly where she needs to be. After years of strange waking visions and nightmares, her only comfort the bones of dead animals, Faye is afraid she's going crazy. Fast. But her first night at Holbrook, she feels strangely connected to the school and the island it sits on, like she's come home. She's even made her first real friends, but odd things keep happening to them. Every morning they wake on the floors of their dorm rooms with their hands stained red. Faye knows she's the reason, but what does it all mean? The handsome Kel tries to help her unravel the mystery, but Faye is certain she can't trust him; in fact, he may be trying to kill her - and the rest of the world too. Rich, compelling writing will keep the pages turning in this riveting and tautly told psychological thriller.

Wickedly Written and Highly Irresistible!

Harbinger is an extraordinary and highly perturbing novel that will make your blood run cold! Sara Wilson Etienne's debut novel will insanely obsess you with this remarkable and masterfully written Psychological Thriller that you'll probably want to read over and over again!

To write a summary of the book with my own words is pretty complicate because there is so much going on and I don't want to give anything away either. However, I don't think this is necessary because this is a book that you must-buy and MUST-READ as soon as it comes out!

First, when I said "historical" it doesn't mean this is an historical novel. Not at all, but there is relevant historical information that I absolutely enjoyed discovering. Harbinger is definitely one of the genres that I am most fond of, Psychological Thriller. I love being confused in books to the point that I feel I'm going insane along with the characters. Sara Wilson Etienne successfully did this and many times, I had to put the book down to take a breath. In this case, putting the book down wasn't a bad thing at all because what's going on in Faye's life (the heroine) is absolutely overpowering that my own mind couldn't handle it for too long. Whoa!

The story itself is like a snowball that grows and grows and the closer you get to discover the truth, the creepier things get. I absolutely love this about Harbinger; the world the author has created is such a bizarre, yet welcoming place. Etienne easily transports you to Holbrook Academy and into Faye's visions, giving readers a real taste of what it feels like to go insane. However, Faye is a very strong character and soon, she start to discover certain things that lead her closer to the truth of her visions and to what's going on in Holbrook Academy. In addition, there is Kel, a highly compelling and mysterious boy that brings the perfect amount of romance to this nail-biting thriller! Also, there is  "the family" (the friends), the Takers (bad guys) Dr. Mordoch and Rita who complete the cast of this outstanding novel.

Harbinger is an exceptional and captivating debut that gives readers so much more than just an addictive and remarkable story in a spellbinding setting. Harbinger carries a beautiful message and two alternative solutions to two important questions that yet have no answers. Sara Wilson Etienne has created a world where today's environmental problems can be solved and where part of an extinguished culture is still alive among us. Believe me, you have to read Harbinger!

Wickedly written and highly irresistible, Harbinger by Sara Wilson Etienne is a marvelous eccentricity among the vast diversity of YA books that will certainly engrave its own mark in every readers' psyche for a very, very long time.

❤Thank you so much to Penguin Canada for providing me a review copy of Harbinger!❤

The book is totally awesome my dear! I love thrillers holy molly!!! However, even though there is a hot guy, there is not much romance. There is just the right amount for a Psychological thriller (which is little and perfect for this creepy genre) Totally worth having and reading my dear! I hope this genre does it for you =)

Oh and it's absolutely wonderful that there's little romance since in a psychological thriller, what we need is mystery, plot and creepiness! I loved, loved LOVED your review!!!
