Mara Dyer doesn't think life can get any stranger than waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there.

It can.

She believes there must be more to the accident she can't remember that killed her friends and left her mysteriously unharmed.

There is.

She doesn't believe that after everything she's been through, she can fall in love.

She's wrong.

A Seductive Paranormal Thriller

It has been such a long time since I read a book that could make me sweat ice cubes. The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer was a twist, after a twist, after a twist. This was a never-ending snowball that kept growing beyond the laws of physics and now, after turning the last page, I find myself feeling the aftermath of such overwhelming read.

Michelle Hodkin has a gift. She must have it because I cannot think of any other reason that could justify my obsession towards this book. The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer trapped me into its pages since I first touched it and it released me, merely, a few minutes ago. I was seduced by its cover and greatly delighted by the romance, psychological and paranormal elements of this book. I think, Mara Dyer has a power on its own and it is impossible to look away from the disturbing word we see through Mara`s eyes. Once you are in, there is no turning back. Now, I am breathless. This book raced my heart and then stopped it without advice. I could not breathe. Mara gave me no pause to steady myself. Mara Dyer was insanely great, and I loved it!

I felt incertitude during this whole read and it was terrifying! This never stopped and my confusion kept growing and growing to the point that I couldn't let myself predict anything in this book because every time I did it, I was wrong. The plot was fascinating. Michelle Hodkin highly surprised me with this reinvigorating story and captivating characters. Oh! the characters! Mara, my dear Mara. I could not stop worrying about you. I felt for you, for your trauma, for your troubles, for your hurt, for you and entirely you. I wished I could have done something for you. I wished I could have suddenly jumped into the page and let you know that I was there with you, for you. And Noah! You are one of a kind and, contrary to Mara, I so strongly wished you could  have defeated fiction and conquered reality. I wished you could have come out of the book. Mara and Noah are, no doubt,  a seductive couple that will keep readers daydreaming about the romantic and enticing moments between these alluring characters.

There are many other characters that enhance the world of Mara Dyer. I loved the complicity between Mara and her brother Daniel. He is such a strong moral support for Mara. I think Daniel is not only her brother, he is her friend. I also loved the fact that Hodkin portrayed with realism (according to me) the behavior of  Mara`s mother. Anna and Aiden... well, they are there to be hated, and I do! and Jamie was absolutely lovely! In addition, I sincerely can't stop thinking about the ending. Oh My Lord! The crucial moment when everything falls into place is shocking! In that moment I was shaking and oxygen suddenly felt thick and heavy in my lungs. I was in shock. I believe that there is so much to reflect about the ending, so much to learn about it. This, in fact, is the kind of book that leaves you staring into space for a long time.

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer is filled with mystery, suspense, drama, action and a delicious romance. Michelle Hodkin plays with our minds and put us in a place where the real and unreal seems to be the same. This is a book you can't pass by. This is, in fact, a must read! and I now have to confess that I love this book! and I love it to the point of insanity!

Watch the trailer!

OMG This sounds so amazing! I just won it and I can't wait to get it!! The characters sounds really great and I love when an author makes an effort to develop them and make them real. I also enjoy when there is a present parent in the story. Great review!!

Early on I had no desire to read this but the more reviews I read the more I want to read it. I just don't like books where I never really know what is going on or the answers to any questions.
